“As an interior designer who has worked with clients through Ziba Oriental Rugs for the past eight years I thought a few words with suggestions on choosing your rug would be helpful. I find that choosing your rug FIRST is a better idea. That way your rug becomes your color palette from which you plan the remaining space. One must first decide what degree of color is wanted and you work from there. Obviously if you want dramatic color you may choose a vibrant patterned rug and then build upon that with fabrics and wall color/texture.  Should one desire  a more monochromatic look a rug that is basically pattern and texture of the same or similar colors would provide the palette from which to add similar colors and texture. Designers as a rule are very comfortable mixing colors, patterns, and texture as we do this everyday; however, clients are often not as comfortable in this situation so purchasing your rug first, then building upon that scheme can make a client feel more at ease. One good thing about the staff at Ziba is they are well versed in design technique and if you are not working with a designer they can be very helpful to the novice homeowner.”
